red in an age of grey case study
A while back, I came across a design challenge on Reddit for an album cover that featured a band name from the forum. So I went through the forums and found the name ‘Red in the Age of Grey’ I really liked the name and could imagine an alternative or indie band having that name. After changing the name slightly and making up a story for my fictitious band, I began researching.
I’d always wanted to try doing a double exposure so I pulled out some photos from my stock library and went to work creating. I wanted to make the cover relate to the name of this fictional band since I imagined the band to be just releasing their EP, thus the title, ‘The Basement Tapes’. After completing the cover I decided a white vinyl would be best to go with the design and would better fit the concept.
